Building a Culture of Peace and the Evolution of Consciousness

Seminar; Wednesday, 2 June 2004; 3:00 P.M.- 6:00 P.M.

Ida Urso

Dear Friends, Welcome. Thank you for your interest in this program and thank you for being here. As you read in the flyer inviting you to this seminar, this meeting is dedicated to the establishment of right human relations leading to a planetary Culture of Peace and as the Agenda indicates, it is being held in cooperation with the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Nonviolence for the Children of the World, proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations to start in 2001 and to continue until 2010.

It is due to the kind help, interest and support of so many individuals, groups and organizations that we are able to meet here today. To each of these people we are most grateful.

I want to especially thank H.E. Ambassador Anwarul Chowdhury without whose support we would not have had a meeting place. I also want to express appreciation to his efficient and helpful office staff who made it possible for so many of you to receive guest passes, and who provided the technical equipment we will depend upon in a few minutes!

And, at this time, I also want to extend a very warm welcome and a strong vote of appreciation to Tito Dupret who has traveled from Bangkok, Thailand in order to share his work with us today.

I know that others of you may also have traveled from far distances in order to be here. As we proceed, if you like, you will have the opportunity to share that information in the audience participation part of the program. However, whether you came from a far distance or from your office within this very same building, we extend a hearty welcome!

Those of us who have been organizing this seminar are eager to hear from each of you and we want to emphasize the fact that each of us carry the emerging "Culture of Peace" within us and our hope for this meeting is that we will each leave this seminar more aware of that truth than ever before.

We encourage you to view this afternoon as a sacred opportunity—an opportunity to allow yourselves to be inspired and to pledge your commitment privately to yourself or publicly, if that seems appropriate, to carry forth from this day onward as an Ambassador of Goodwill—an Ambassador from the realms of Higher Consciousness, the Source of all Light and Love, dedicated to striving-to the best of your ability—to actualize your vision for a Culture of Peace—both within your subjective as well as in your public life. And, it is with that focus that we would like to begin our program.
