This blazing forth of the sons of righteousness before the world is achieved by following the rules herein contained.  When all the sons of men have demonstrated that they are also Sons of God, the cosmic Son of God will likewise shine forth with increased intensity of glory.  The great initiate, Paul, had a vision of this when he said that "the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain . . . waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God."  (Rom.  VIII.)

Raja Yoga, or the science of Union, gives the rules and the means whereby:

  1. Conscious contact can be made with the soul, the second aspect, the Christ within,

  2. Knowledge of the self can be achieved and its control over the not-self maintained,

  1. The power of the ego or soul can be felt in the daily life and soul powers manifested,

  1. The lower psychic nature can be subdued, and the higher psychic faculties demonstrated,

  1. The brain can be brought en rapport with the soul and its messages received,

  1. The "light in the head" can be increased, so that a man becomes a living Flame,

  1. The Path can be found and man himself become that Path.

Urusvati knows that one approaches the Supermundane World not so much through reason as through love.  Great is the magnetic power of the feeling of love, but, regrettably, science does not know the true significance of this magnet.  A loving man responds to the cosmic law of attraction, and thus receives special qualities which are characteristic of this law.
It is possible to sharpen one's insight and be imbued with valor, to become ready for podvig.  Even one's health is improved when the mind and heart are turned toward exalted thinking.
It is incorrect to assume that people who are subject to so-called hysteria can more easily commune with the Supermundane World. They do tend to mediumship, but We desire another approach, wholesome and goalfitting.  The perfect path will be love for the Supermundane World.
It is impossible without love to gain knowledge of the Supermundane.  It is impossible to approach only through reading.  An intensified will is needed, but this will can be developed only through love.
Also, We advise you not to separate yourself from earthly life, for this life is given to us as our field of battle.  One can test oneself only in life, and all such tests will be beautiful if they are under a dome of love for the Supermundane World.

When the Christ founds His focal point on Earth, it will be in the nature of a tiny heart centre through which the love energy of the Hierarchy can persistently flow.  The harmony (which the Principle of Conflict produces) causes an alignment, so that the love—streaming forth from the Heart of God—enters the hearts of men; so that the Hierarchy (which is the heart centre or the place where love prevails upon our planet) is brought into relationship with humanity; so that the New Group of World Servers (implementing the love of God and enlightened by the Mind of God) are brought also into relation with the men and women of goodwill in all lands whose task it is to make men's hearts responsive to and receptive to the love of God; this is another way of saying receptive to the consciousness of the Christ.
This alignment is now in process of being made; it will be brought about automatically when the effectiveness of the Principle of Conflict in producing liberation is generally recognised. Thus the hearts of men, the heart of the planet, i.e., the Hierarchy, and the heart of the Hierarchy, the Christ, are in a state of positive contact; when this channel is open and unobstructed, then the Christ will come.

The self-sacrificing heart of an Agni Yogi contains the pain of the world, but it is a rare manifestation.  As is said in a most ancient psalm, “I shall encompass within my heart the sorrow of the world.  I shall incandesce the heart as the womb of Earth.  I shall saturate it with lightnings.  The new heart is the shield of the world.  I shall inscribe upon it the sign of the Earth-Mother.  The Cross of the Mother will be the sign of My fire.”  Thus knew the ancients.
And again a loyal heart is in the Service of the world.  Therefore I say—health must be guarded.  A vessel filled to the brim must be carried with caution.
One may rejoice at the kindling of the fire of the heart.  Let us not forget how unexpectedly new fires are kindled.

Hierarchy, par. 102, Agni Yoga Society, NY

August 2014

The confines of the Heavens Themselves are illimitable and utterly unknown.  Naught but the wildest speculation is possible to the tiny finite minds of men and it profits us not to consider the question.  Go out on some clear starlit night and seek to realise that in the many thousands of suns and constellations visible to the unaided eye of man, and in the tens of millions which the modern telescope reveals there is seen the physical manifestation of as many millions of intelligent existences; this infers that what is visible is simply those existences who are in incarnation.  But only one-seventh of the possible appearances are incarnating.  Six-sevenths are out of incarnation, waiting their turn to manifest, and holding back from incarnation until, in the turning of the great wheel, suitable and better conditions may eventuate.
Realise further that the bodies of all these sentient intelligent cosmic, solar and planetary Logoi are constituted of living sentient beings, and the brain reels, and the mind draws back in dismay before such a staggering concept.  Yet so it is, and so all moves forward to some unfathomable and magnificent consummation which will only in part begin to be visioned by us when our consciousness has expanded beyond the cosmic physical plane, and beyond the cosmic astral until it can "conceive and think" upon the cosmic mental plane.

Urusvati knows how lightning-fast, resounding spirals of thought envelope the planet. The resulting sheathe can be either beneficial or harmful. Through free will man can cause healing or destruction. Man cannot say that he suffers without cause. It is man himself who at some point in the past introduced poison into the cosmic fabric.
Cosmic soundings are already being studied and it is understood that every thought, every word expressed by man is engraved on indestructible tablets. The time is coming when human thought must be studied. It is quicker than light, and forms a tenacious cover over the Earth. But how often are thoughts benevolent?
People already know how to grasp the superficial expression of thought, but are not yet fully capable of understanding its meaning. In the future, there will be sensitive apparatuses that can record the precise meaning of a thought. People whose thoughts are devoted to the Common Good will rejoice at this research, but all those who live in hatred, malice, lies, and envy, will oppose it by all means. The scientist with enough resolve to conduct the research leading to this discovery will hardly be called a friend by contemporary humanity.
Simple is the admonishment that one should not live in hatred, but the proclamations of today's leaders often encourage it. They do not know the power of thought and of karma. He who thinks that evil can be exterminated by evil is gravely mistaken. Even the horror of war cannot be stopped by hatred. It is noble thoughts that will save mankind. Heroism is shaped not by hatred, but by fiery good will.
The Thinker said, "A fiery warrior knows no obstacles."

The Buddha and His 900 arhats struck the first blow at the world glamour when He promulgated His Four Noble Truths. The Christ struck the second blow with His teaching of the nature of individual responsibility and of brotherhood. The next blow will be struck by the New Group of World Servers, acting under the direction of Christ and His disciples, symbolically described as "Christ and His 9000 initiates."

It is correct that an evil action is co-measured karmically with the consciousness that perpetrated it.  All that is meditated in malice colors our aura especially strongly and weighs heavily upon the consciousness. And, at the same time, the man who creates evil while being but dimly aware of what he does prolongs and hardens his path immeasurably because he may begin to improve his destiny only after realizing the depth of evil created by him. One may, indeed, pray for those who do not understand the significance of their actions, for grievous is the destiny of such an animal-like state of mind. Thus, Lord Buddha said, "Of two people who have committed the same error, he is worse off who does not realize it....
For one cannot expect a man who does not consider himself guilty to manifest effort for the cessation of his erring. In order to cure oneself, one has to know one's ailment, but the realization of it does not give health; for that, the necessary condition is a manifestation of will."  Karma is created by thoughts, therefore, likewise "There is no merit for the one who gives gold, thinking he gives a stone." The happiness of humanity lies in the hastening of evolution, and one can imagine how the low consciousness of the majority holds back evolution….
Verily, there is not greater misfortune than ignorance.

April 2014

I assume that my readers recognise some intelligent or spiritual direction of humanity.  I care not by what name they call that guiding Purpose….Some definite direction has led man from the stage of primeval man to that evolutionary point where a Plato, a Shakespeare, a da Vinci, a Beethoven can appear.  Some power has evoked man's capacity to formulate ideas, to produce systems of theology, of science and of government; some inner motivating power has given man the ability to create beauty, to discover the secrets of nature; some realisation of divine responsibility lies behind the philanthropy, the educational systems, and the welfare movements throughout the world.  The progress of the human spirit has been one of irresistible unfoldment, of a developing appreciation of reality, beauty and wisdom.  Instinct has developed into intellect; intellect is beginning to unfold into intuition.  The significance of God, the registering of man's divine potentialities, and the increasing capacity to understand and to share in the thought processes of others—all these indicate progress and unfoldment.
This picture of the beauty of the human spirit must be placed beside the earlier picture of man's selfishness and cruelty, of man's inhumanity to man. Both pictures are true, but only the one of beauty is eternal; the other is but transient. Man is a composite of higher and lower expressions, and behind all the wars and difficulties which accompany man's progress through the ages lies this major factor—an ancient persistent fight between man's spiritual aspiration and his material desires. This condition is today brought to a focus in the conflict raging between the totalitarian powers and the nations which are fighting for the rights of the human spirit and for the freedom of humanity.

March 2014

he currents are transforming the Earth and generating a new step. The manifestation of a date evokes all alternate currents. All dormant energies are aroused; all subject to destruction is strained. Shall the heart not quiver when the flame of conflagration engulfs all spheres? All the departing and all self-asserting energies are determining their tension. The East awakens and opposes the West; the North opposes the South—and shall the heart not quiver? Ominous are the currents, and the spirit assimilates all courses. The cosmic verdict is austere but full of limitless beauty. As We in the Tower follow the gathering of new threads, you also must perceive all movements of the element of Fire.
Verily, the centers of an Agni Yogi feel each planetary vibration. Hence, it is so imperative to strive toward Us during the cosmic perturbations. Just as We share in the destiny of the planet, so We also partake of the beauty of the Infinite.

Infinity, par. 2, Agni Yoga Society, NY.

February 2014

Humanity is the custodian of the hidden mystery, and the difficulty consists in the fact that that which man conceals from the world is also hidden from himself.  He knows not the wonder of that which he preserves and nourishes.  Humanity is the treasure-house of God (this is the great Masonic secret), for only in the human kingdom, as esotericists have long pointed out, are the three divine qualities found in their full flower and together.  In man, God the Father has hidden the secret of life; in man, God the Son has secreted the treasures of wisdom and of love; in man, God the Holy Spirit has implanted the mystery of manifestation.  Humanity, and humanity alone, can reveal the nature of the Godhead and of eternal life.  To man is given the privilege of revealing the nature of the divine consciousness, and of portraying before the eyes of the assembled sons of God (at the final conclave before the dissolution) what has lain hidden in the Mind of God. Hence the injunction before us today (in the words of the great Christian teacher) to possess in ourselves "the mind of Christ."  This mind must  dwell in us and reveal itself in the human race in ever greater fullness.  To man is given the task of raising matter up into heaven, and of glorifying rightly the form side of life through his conscious manifestation of divine powers.

January 2014

Twilight reigns only in the lower strata of the Subtle World, for its inhabitants do not know how to evoke Light.  This ability depends upon thought, and thought gives birth to Light. Verily, a thinker sends the order, “Let there be Light!”  Thus are the great truths taught, although people consider them to be fairy tales.
Only in the spirit and in personal experience can the most natural laws be assimilated. It is not easy to overcome all the surrounding counteractions. Our Abode is so strong because there is no corruption in it.  The will of all of Us is merged into one powerful current.  The dynamo of unity increases all energies.  Not magic, but purified will sends into the world the command, “Let there be Light!”
Our Abode should be considered the triumph of Unity.

Supermundane I, par. 30, Agni Yoga Society, NY.
