Harmonizing the Actions of Nations: How Can I Help?
In Observance of World Invocation Day
The Festival of Humanity and The Festival of Goodwill
19 June 2008; 2:30-5:00 p.m. Labouisse Hall, UNICEF House, United Nations
The guided meditation we will be using is based on two truisms that used to be considered esoteric, but that today are becoming mainstream knowledge: Energy Follows Thought, and As We Think in Our Heart, So We Are.
There are many forms of meditation; this one that we will use is based on the raja yoga method of meditation, which means meditation with a seed thought and the whole meditation is leading up to a focus on the thought we will contemplate together: "The Divine Purpose that seeks to guide the work of the United Nations."
It is based on the six-fold progression of Divine Love—recognizing six different stages of consciousness towards which we aspire and from which we seek inspiration, and which we then seek to express in the world. It's a form of in breathing and then a pause, which is when the real work of meditation takes place; Out-breathing and then a pause, which is referred to as the lower interlude, when the mind and heart are flooded with the spiritual energies we have invoked and been able to contact, we then focus on how to apply our inspiration in our daily lives and in the world.
If you would like to join in sounding the two mantras—the one under alignment and the other under distribution, you are welcome to sound them aloud. As we know, sounding mantric words and formulas aloud can have a powerful effect. However, if you prefer not to sound them, that is fine too.
The Great Invocation
I would like to also say a few words about The Great Invocation that you will have the opportunity to sound at the end of the meditation. This great world prayer or mantram was given to humanity in 1945 and it has been translated into over 70 languages. In the form of a booklet, copies of this Invocation in the six languages of the UN are available on the literature table.
Each of the stanzas refers to a different dimension of consciousness and so we will pause at the end of each stanza, giving ourselves an opportunity to focus on the centers of Light, Love and Purpose—and then finally on the one humanity that can implement these energies into the daily life.
As it is explained in the booklet, the mantric power of the words and the phrases used in The Great Invocation create a rhythmic vibration, invoking spiritual energies that can strengthen the work of the United Nations as it strives to uplift the quality of life on our planet.
Many religions believe in a World Teacher—a Coming One who is to reappear, as has been the case throughout the history of humanity. This Coming One is known by such names as the Lord Maitreya, the Imam Mahdi, the Bodhisattva, the Messiah, and the Kalki Avatar—just to acknowledge a few of the names by which this Spiritual Teacher is known.
In the English version of The Great Invocation, which is the original language in which this Invocation was given to humanity, the term Christ is used for this Coming One. And, it may be of interest to note that in the ancient archives, before Christianity came to be, this term was a title, attributed to the One, Who at any given time in the history of humanity holds the title of the World Spiritual Teacher—the purified or Initiated One. This title and word has great esoteric significance and radiates its own powerful numeric vibration.
Also, the word "man" is a derivative of the Sanskrit term, Manas, which refers to the mental principle—the positive element that characterizes humanity, emphasizing the fact that humanity is able to THINK and use the mind.
THE SPIRITUAL WORK OF THE UNITED NATIONS AND THE LIBERATION OF HUMANITY
(For the Seminar: "Harmonizing the Actions of Nations: How Can I Help? 19 June 2008)
ALIGNMENT: We identify with all who work for the well being of all life on planet Earth and unite with them in consciousness.
I know oh Lord of Life and Love about the need, touch my heart anew with love that I too may love and give.
HIGHER INTERLUDE: Hold the consciousness open to the highest levels of Inspiration you can imagine; Seek to become impressionable to this inspiration.
MEDITATION: In complete, focused silence, visualize the United Nations overshadowed and infused by the Will-to-Good and the Love of All spiritual Beings who watch over and guide our planetary evolution. Meditate on the Divine Purpose that seeks to guide the work of the United Nations.
PRECIPITATION: Visualize the perpetual flow of Essential Love throughout the planet, as a constant, ever-present permeation of all planes and states of planetary consciousness. See this energy electrifying, strengthening and deepening the link between humanity and all spiritual and cosmic Lives.
LOWER INTERLUDE: In identification with the indwelling, the planetary and the cosmic energy of Love-Wisdom, ever pouring Itself out in service to humanity and the planet, consider the work of the United Nations as it relates to the spiritual welfare of the Planet and how it can help humanity fulfill its spiritual destiny.
DISTRIBUTION: As we sound the Great Invocation aloud, visualize the synthetic outpouring of light, love and will-to-good, throughout the planet, irradiating and infusing the consciousness of the whole human race.
The Great Invocation
*The word "men" is a derivative of the Sanskrit term Manas which refers to the mental principle—the positive element that characterizes humanity, the fourth masculine kingdom, relative to the fifth, feminine and therefore receptive, spiritual kingdom of the Soul.
**According to the Ageless Wisdom, in the ancient archives, the Christ, "The Anointed" or "Initiated One," is the office or title of The World Teacher-the Teacher alike of angels and of humanity. Many religions believe in a World Teacher, knowing this great Being under such names as The True Aquarian, the Lord Maitreya, the Messiah, the Imam Mahdi, the Kalki Avatar and the Bodhisattva
