All for One and One For All
The Value of the Individual and the Fact of the One Humanity

"A human being is a part of the whole called by us Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical illusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty." -Albert Einstein

Today, interdependence, integration and interconnectedness are of paramount concern. In all domains-be it political, economic, religious, cultural or scientific-these forces are creating an impelling dynamic. The nature of the whole is gaining renewed interest and respect. Throughout this century it has been Albert Einstein who has been known for his dream of finding a single equation that might account for every fundamental process in nature-from the jostling of atoms to the wheeling of galaxies. His efforts spurred many scientists throughout the past decades to continue to search for a unified field theory. The interest has been such that in 1984 the Nobel Prize in physics was awarded for experiments that confirmed the first of these new theories. As a result, we know that the universe began in a state of perfect simplicity, evidence of which was burned into the heart of every atom in the heat of the Big Bang at the beginning of time.

The Ageless Wisdom has long attested to the interdependent nature of all life connected by an etheric web through which circulate all energies-including every thought, word and deed of each of the 5.9 billion human beings now inhabiting planet earth. Within this wisdom, humanity is described as one indivisible whole-the "center of Creative Intelligence" and the keynote of the Lord of the World. Linked and receptive to the spiritual centers of Love-Wisdom and Divine Will and Purpose, the "One Humanity" shares a divine inheritance and a profound spiritual destiny. It is the divine Soul, pulsating within each human being and impulsing each human life that forges the cohering bond. More specifically, it is the relationship between all souls and the Oversoul that constitutes the sacred electric connection, providing as it does, "the scientific basis of brotherhood."

Always and at all times the great spiritual Teachers have sought to awaken humanity to this truth. It has ever been the welfare of the whole humanity that prompted Them to bring healing love and light to those who could respond to their mission. It is the separative nature of the concrete mind that negates this truth and creates instead the divisions, the separations and sectarianism-the sense of the chosen and saved, in contrast to the "other."

In the book, Education in the New Age, the Tibetan Master, Djwhal Khul states that there are two major ideas that should be taught to the children of every country. These are the value of the individual and the fact of the one humanity. We know that any group effort depends on the well-being and vitality of each member of the group. We know too that any group can only be as strong as its weakest link. Each of us significantly impacts the whole. The whole, in turn, reverberates back to each of us its state of malaise or well being, its state of anemia or vitality. The concentric ripples of our individual thoughts, feelings and behavior affect the planetary consciousness, which in turn affects each human being.

In the esoteric wisdom, our world period has been referred to as "the age of restoration of what has been broken by the fall." (A Treatise on White Magic, Alice A. Bailey, p. 408) It is a time when the seemingly separate parts can be reunited and the whole can be known in its full perfection.

As we enter the Age of Aquarius with its potent purifying energies and its quality of synthesis and universality, we have the opportunity to burst the shackles of the past and to dissolve the barriers that exist between and within individuals, groups and nations. With the rising tide of Aquarian energy, we can transcend all selfish limitations, cooperatively seek to recognize ourselves in the eyes of the other and actively participate in the loving salvage of our world. As the Christ enunciated two thousand years ago, we are all children of the one Father. As we do unto the least of our brethren so we do unto ourselves.
