Right Human Relations: the Hallmark of the
New Group of World Servers
Iris Spellings*
Harkening to all the songs about Brotherhood one perceives a wondrous poem of the dreams of humanity. If one assembles all the customs, which have been accumulated around the concept of Brotherhood one arrives at an extraordinarily touching testimony about the aspirations of peoples. The manifestation of achievements in the name of Brotherhood reveals that self-renunciation has been always linked with these endeavors of the pure heart.

As thought has contributed to the present state of affairs in the world today, equally so, we can use our thought to pave the way, shaping the world as we would like it to be. It is thought which precedes energy, as in the familiar axiom "energy follows thought", thus the immense value of meditation and radiating the power of love and goodwill throughout the planet during these propitious times.

Those who are a part of the New Group of World Servers (NGWS) are a bridge between spirit and matter. They know how to picture the most beautiful possibilities, but they also know how to manifest them by clothing them in matter. They are working to facilitate the entry of new ideals and aims characteristic of the New Age into the consciousness of the race in order to hasten the process of evolutionary development on our planet. Changing the present situation is a Herculean task, yet not impossible. It will require the focused effort of all servers to work out the Plan between the Hierarchy—the Masters of Loving-Wisdom—and Humanity.

Human rights, in general, are defined as those rights, which are inherent in our nature and without which we cannot live as human beings. Coupled with fundamental freedoms, they allow us to develop fully and use our human qualities, our intelligence, our talents and our conscience and to satisfy our spiritual and other needs. They're based on our growing demand for a life in which the inherent dignity and worth of each human being are accorded respect and protection. Their denial, aside from being an individual and personal tragedy, also creates conditions of social and political unrest, spreading the seeds of violence and conflict within and between societies and nations.

The new world is being built upon the ruins of the old and we can begin to see new structures arising. People of goodwill everywhere, under the guidance of the NGWS are organizing themselves into "battalions of life"-their first major task being the development of right human relations and the development of an enlightened public opinion.

Thinking and acting in terms of the one life, sharing the vision of human unity and working to implement it; sensing the interrelationship of the microcosm and the macrocosm and the urgent need to form right relationships with all kingdoms of nature—these are some of the characteristics of the creative people from all over the world serving in all fields of human endeavor who, linked only by the synthesizing nature of their vision and their work and whether they are aware of it or not, are collectively known as the "new group of world servers". The NGWS is not an exterior organization, but more so a subjective organism. They hold no one doctrine or belief, because, above all, they represent an inclusive attitude of mind. The purpose underlying their life is that of world service, and their primary work is that of the expansion of human consciousness and the consequent improvement of the planetary life.

The broad definition given to the word 'spiritual' by the NGWS may be heard in the words of H.E. Mr. Jan Eliasson, the new President-elect of the 60th General Assembly in a recent interview**

'"The spiritual element has a role to play…as a driving force for individuals, organizations and even nations. Spiritual leaders should be true to their convictions and to the central elements of spirituality, which to me are respect for fellow human beings and helping others. If this can be combined with a knowledge and awareness of what goes on, on the ground, then there is a tremendous energy in that spirituality, that both gives a sense of direction and meaning, but also is very practical and concrete."

As we know, our fate is determined by the values that govern our decisions. Let us do what we can in our lives to support those who are working to implement them in the world.
