Solar Fusion and Initiation

Such a point of tension, of stupendous magnitude, is present in the world today; the intention behind this realised fusion and tension is to enable humanity (as an integral part of the divine body of manifestation) to move forward into greater light and nearer to the "heart of love," which is the Hierarchy. As this takes place-and it is taking place-the Hierarchy Itself moves nearer to a conscious fusion with Humanity. The point of tension thereby achieved-and this has not yet appeared-will produce the Kingdom of God on Earth in exoteric form.1

THE SUN2, SCIENCE TELLS US, is a huge magnet. Its magnetic field, the "Interplanetary Magnetic Field," or IMF is vast. It reaches beyond its immediate vicinity and impacts the entire solar system. A giant, spinning ball of very hot gas, the Sun's energy is produced within its core and then travels outwards, first through the radiative zone, where particles of light (photons) travel for millions of years, before they reach the convection zone. From this layer the sun's energy then travels more quickly to its surface and beyond.

Within its core, the density and temperature (27 million degrees Fahrenheit) create just the right conditions for nuclear fusion reactions. It is these reactions which release energy in two forms: light as electromagnetic radiation and particles. For a fusion reaction to occur it is necessary to bring the nuclei so close together that nuclear forces become important and "glue" the nuclei together. Fusion can only occur in a high density, high temperature environment because the nuclear force has to counteract the electrostatic force which causes the positively charged nuclei to repel each other. It is only when nuclei come "VERY" close together that the nuclear force comes into play.

Science recognizes four forces which govern the Universe. The nuclear force, one of these four fundamental forces, is also known as the strong force-in contradistinction to a second force designated as the weak force.

Since the days of antiquity the sun, the source of light and life on our planet, has symbolized the source of reality. One of the most ancient of spiritual prayers, the Gayatri invokes the Conscious Intelligence of this Great Star:

"O Thou Who givest sustenance to the universe,
From Whom all things proceed,
To Whom all things return,
Unveil to me the face of the true Spiritual Sun
Hidden by a disc of golden Light…"

The Ageless Wisdom distinguishes between the physical sun, the heart of the sun and the central spiritual sun, referring to these as embodiments of different levels of consciousness. The sun is the macrocosm. The human being is the microcosm. As above so below.

The description of solar fusion is not unlike the process of initiation. With each grade of initiation, increasing levels of consciousness fuse and blend, increasing the magnetic aura of the Initiate, symbolized, for example, by the artistic renditions of halos or radiations of light emanating from Saints and Holy Men/Women.

As in solar fusion, the will must be galvanized and the fire of the mind must be evoked in order for the process of initiation to proceed. The higher degrees of initiation result in the expression of synthesis and universality, also reminiscent of solar fusion.

A correlation between solar fusion and initiation is further evident in the following description from the book, The Rays and the Initiations: "Each initiation…immerses the initiate in a higher light. Each initiation enables the disciple to perceive an area of divine consciousness hitherto unknown but which, when the disciple has familiarised himself with it and with its unique phenomena, vibratory quality and interrelations, becomes for him a normal field of experience and activity….This involves no leaving of the former field of activity in which he has worked and lived; it simply means that new fields of responsibility and of opportunity confront him because he is-through his own effort-able to see more light, to walk in a greater light, to prove more adequately than heretofore his capacities within the greatly increased area of possibility.

"Initiation is, therefore, a constant fusion of the lights…As one of the Masters has said: 'The light must enter vertically and be diffused or radiated horizontally.'"3

The Age of Aquarius is described as the Age when great numbers of people can make major leaps in consciousness by fitting themselves for one or other of the first three initiations. The Age of Aquarius is also described as the age of light, of illumination and of revelation. It is the Age that will see a continued speeding up of all the atomic lives upon and within the planet. It is the Age when the "second aspect"4 of electricity-a great fusion of light and energy-will be understood.

The challenges of our day are many. They are matched only by the great and unprecedented opportunities now possible. May we each play our part with love and stern resolve.
