The Spiritual Work of the United Nations and the Liberation of Humanity

Leo Meeting, August 3, 2001
Freedom of Worship[1]

Good Evening Friends. Thank you so much for coming. Our goal tonight is to help strengthen the work of the United Nations. Why? Because we believe, as the Ageless Wisdom indicates, and as we have often said, that the United Nations is the "hope of humanity." We believe that when the UN is successful in realizing its goals and the vision, which so many on our planet hold out for this organization, that the welfare of humanity will then be assured. And, we agree with Eleanor Roosevelt who said that the UN is a piece of machinery and it is the people of the world who must make it work.

Since May of this year, we have added a focus to these meditation meetings on the four freedoms, first enunciated by President Roosevelt on January 6, 1941 and then emblazoned into the Charter of the United Nations and the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The movement towards freedom has served as a major catalyst and brought about significant transformational changes on our planet.

Freedom is akin to liberation. The esoteric wisdom scientifically defines stages of liberation, referring to these as initiations[2] into fuller, more inclusive stages of consciousness, which, of course, carry increasing responsibility. Millions within humanity are preparing for one or other of the initiations. Testifying to this, is the fact that increasing numbers of us understand in this Age of Aquarius, that All are responsible for the One and the One is responsible for the All.

Tonight our focus is on Freedom of Worship. As Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights affirms: "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion."

Before we go into meditation, we are pleased to welcome Nickolai Parker from the World Peace Prayer Society who will share some thoughts on this freedom as it relates to the work of the United Nations.
